After waking up earlier for a beautiful sunrise in Duluth, Minnesota, for my project "Identity", I was met with floating water droplets. It wasn't exactly what I was planning for, but I decided to make the best out of what I had, and for me, that meant heading down to one of the most iconic spots in Duluth: The Lift Bridge.

I started to wonder whether or not the fog would have accumulated below me or not, and so my drive down became more and more stressful. The lower I got, the lower the density of the fog became. It slowly got into my mind that I would be missing the fog and that heading down wouldn’t have been worth it. But when I reached the bottom and laid my eyes on the bridge, I knew I was about to get a perfect shot.

I quickly and intentionally rushed to the bridge after parking and lined up the camera. I took my time planning it out, getting the camera clean, everything straight, the exposure set correctly, and it all paid off as I hit the shutter button.

The asphalt below the bridge is a beautiful, deep black, thanks to the moisture in the air. The yellow lines guiding the street worked as a perfect “separate”, or touch of uniqueness, to the photography. As you follow the metal structure into the sky and see it start to fade into the fog, the detail goes from crisp to cool and chilly.

The empty air around the bridge perfectly matches my stillness, and brings about a very opposite feel when compared to my photo “SUNDAY”. It’s cool and fridged, just like my hands when I took the photo.

Border & Presentation Details

All prints are produced edge-to-edge, with no white border, allowing the image to fully occupy the space for a clean, modern presentation.

The only exception is Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth, which includes a 0.79" (20 mm) white border as part of its fine art presentation, enhancing its gallery-style aesthetic.

If you prefer a white border on other materials, this can be achieved through custom framing using a mat board. This involves selecting a slightly larger frame and adding a mat, which surrounds the image and creates that classic, centered border effect.
