Summit With Ephrem

Short Story: SERIES

Ephrem Richmond
Series, layers, levels, rotations, taking turns - these are all ways you could impactfully describe this CHRONICLE. Yet, the goal, the story, behind the photo isn't "Our oceans are cool, here's how they work". As you are likely well aware, every photo I take holds a story of significance, and the significance of this photo has everything to do with you.

Just as the waves of the tide have layers, so we have generation; waves of different and unique people. Your ancestors, and my ancestors, are the bodies of water that got to experience the harsh grinding of the sandy beach, and you are currently living in that reality they once knew. You are rolling on the foundation that the elders have given to you, and then you are finally reaching the sand, the goal of every wave.

Though someday, we will recede back to where we came from. For some of us, that's the depths of the ocean, but for others it might be the clouds - purified of the saltiness that separates the boundary waters from the crystal clear, life giving bodies of water we call lakes.
As I was taking this photograph and preparing my vision for the shot, I was thinking to myself, "How could I be fortunate enough to be lifted on a cloud?" The answer that I was given was: the sun. What we need in our lives, to free us from the dense and burdensome lives we lead as salty pods, is a sun that can cleanse us. The sun stands above everything (the ocean, the Earth, time) for a reason. It is the source of regeneration, new life, on our Earth. Parallel to this is someone who made the sun, and who can purify more than water.
Thank you for reading.
