It is my belief that each photo should tell a story, and that it can be, but doesn’t need to be, unique to the photographer. There is an obvious buildup in this photography, which I quite love, and I think the story it’s telling is this:\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThroughout the entirety of someone's life, there is usually a goal, and these goals are always shifting. For you, your goal might look something like becoming a kinder person, or getting a better GPA in school, or getting a raise, or obtaining more knowledge. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBy now, you likely see what I am trying to get at, and while your brain is already working forward with this idea, I would like to introduce something new: what if we tried to lift, instead of trying to be lifted? What if we forgot all about ourselves and our goals and lifted others up, just like this lift bridge?\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003eYou might be thinking, but then wouldn’t we be working on elevating our ability to help others? In a sense, yes, but only if your standard way of life was already set up for yourself. If you were perfect at it the moment you were born, then you wouldn’t need to consider any improvement, would you?\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cspan\u003eThe idea behind this photograph is that we have been caught in the busy lives that we live, and we have become automibiles running on autopilot. What we need to do is step down from our position as mini kings and queens of our lives and become the servants. We cannot stop there, though; we need to ensure that others \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ebegin \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003etheir lives with such a mindset. We need to teach our kids, we need to be role models for our brothers and sisters, and we need to help make that change happen.\u003c\/span\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThere are two things that I know are coming to your mind right now: 1) what’s the point of this, and 2) how are we supposed to make money and actually live our lives?\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI’m going to start by answering number 2: I am not proposing that you quit your job, forget about trying to grow and become smarter, and I am by no means saying you should just give up on life. Rather, what I am saying is that a mindset of “give, give, give” will lead you down a rewarding path in life that will benefit you and others.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cspan\u003eNow, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ewhy \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ewould you want to do this at all? I believe that our world is so engulfed with this mindset of “grow, grow, grow”, and it results in the destruction of those who cannot “grow, grow, grow”; at least without a little help. It has become my goal to help those people who cannot grow, whether they don’t have the opportunities or the knowledge of such. And I think that it can be all of our goals.
